Registration for the Grand Rapids Neighborhood Summit is now open for Grand Rapids residents. The annual community event is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at Grand Valley State University’s Pew Campus in downtown Grand Rapids.

Registration is limited to Grand Rapids residents until Feb. 14. This gives residents – the Neighborhood Summit’s target audience – the chance to register before the event reaches capacity. Sign up for the Summit HERE.

The Grand Rapids Neighborhood Summit is a one-day experience for residents, business owners, and other community stakeholders. Attendees learn with and from one another about strategies, resources, and opportunities to strengthen neighborhoods and advance equity. This year’s Summit theme, “Connecting Our Stories – Connecting Our Power,” reflects the power of reclaiming, sharing and connecting personal and community stories.

“We have an exciting lineup of experiences, learning opportunities and intentional strategies for attendees to lift up their voice, meet new friends and take what they’ve learned into their neighborhoods and communities,” said Stacy Stout, assistant to the city manager.

The day features:

  • Breakfast and several community resource tables
  • Welcome by Anishinaabe community drum
  • Opening remarks by Mayor Rosalynn Bliss
  • An engaging keynote experience by Mixed Roots Collective
  • Signature workshops
Summit participants can attend three of 24 workshop offerings, engage in interactive lunch activities and gather for a closing ceremony. The event concludes with resident leadership recognition and a prize drawing provided by local businesses and organizations. Grand Rapids-based businesses interested in donating product and gift cards for the drawing are encouraged to contact Jessica Solis at [email protected].

To reduce barriers to attendance and give children 12 and younger leadership and learning opportunities, the Summit once again will provide free onsite childcare. Childcare – for ages up to 12 – is limited to dependents of Grand Rapids residents attending Summit as well as event volunteers and presenters. Register for child care during Summit registration.
