Grand Opening — The Comedy Project. Celebrate the Grand Opening of Grand Rapids’ only comedy theatre. Featuring free appetizers and drinks specials, ribbon cutting ceremony followed by The Greatest Bits Sketch Review Show (tickets sold separately) and Battle Bots Improv Comedy (tickets sold separately). The Glory of Baroque. The glory of Bach, of Handel, of Rameau and Marais. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerti and Handel’s “Royal Fireworks Music” have endured for three centuries. The music of Rameau is just as, just as captivating. The legend of Marin Marais, as told in the film “Tous les Matins du Monde,” is enchanting, and his music even more so. Pushout Documentary. Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Public Schools. is a feature length documentary which takes a close look at the educational, judicial and societal disparities facing Black Girls. Inspired by the groundbreaking book of the same name by renowned scholar, Monique W. Morris, Ed.D. The documentary confronts the ways in which the misunderstanding of Black girlhood has led to excessive punitive discipline which in turn disrupts one of the most important factors in their lives, their education.
