Celebrate Mother Earth at Blandford Nature Center's Annual Earth Day Celebration
Apr 15, 2019 12:03PM ● By WLMagazinePRESS RELEASE- Monday, April 22 marks almost 50 years since the very first Earth Day around the world, highlighting the importance of caring for the Earth through environmental activism. Celebrate the occasion during our annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 20 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Blandford Nature Center located at 1715 Hillburn Ave NW, Grand Rapids MI 49504. There’s no better way to rejoice at getting people outdoors than with free general admission for all visitors.
In addition to free admission for the entire day, visitors will have the opportunity to explore all the trails, see wildlife in our Wildlife Education Center, visit the Farm, and much more. Guests can also check out our historic buildings with interpretations in Heritage Village as well as partake in volunteer opportunities in the morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Additionally, there will be several information booths and activities from on-site community organizations such as John Ball Zoo, Friends of GR Parks, Northwest Co-op Preschool, Michigan Bluebird Society, Kent Conservation District, LGROW, West Michigan Conservation Network, Girl Scouts of MI Shore to Shore, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, and Allies for Greyhounds.
“Earth Day is an opportunity for community members to engage in enriching experiences in nature and see what Blandford has to offer, all while celebrating our home planet,” said Emma Rust, Environmental Education & Community Programs Intern.
