Say Hello to Sleep: 5 Expert Tips to Get Your Infant on the Sleep Schedule of Your Dreams
May 09, 2018 12:09PM ● By WLMagazineGetting a child to sleep through the night is a plight most parents can relate to all too well, and Rachel Turner is here to help. Trained expert and owner of Hello, Sleep, Turner shares her top five tips to bring back a full night of rest to parents.
Eliminate Sleep Props
Children need to learn to fall asleep on their own without any external sleep props. No bottles, pacifiers, rocking to sleep or relying on mom or dad to fall asleep.
Be Consistent
Have the same routine for bedtime and naps, regardless if mom or dad is putting the child to bed. The routine should be the same every night to remain consistent.
Early Bedtime
Pick a time between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Routine, Routine, Routine
Have a bedtime routine that lasts 20-30 minutes only. A naptime routine should only be 10 minutes.
Stay on Schedule
Skipping naps and late bedtimes will affect the next 24- hour cycle. Try to remain on a consistent schedule.
