The Fall-Time Fan
Fall weather is picking up the pace–and so are participants of the Great Pumpkin Run. This annual 5k, facilitated by Sour Fish Events and held September 30 at Klackle Orchards in Greenville, aims to celebrate all things autumn. Help make this race memorable by volunteering at the information packet pick-up station, manning the water station or handing out medals and fresh apple cider at the finish line.

The Geek Group National Science Institute is in need of a few tech-savvy volunteers to help sell a variety of Geek Group products online. The center’s virtual fundraising utilizes both Ebay and Craigslist to promote surplus goods as well as Etsy and Shopify for handmade items.

The ArtPrize Pathfinder
It’s that time again! ArtPrize, the world’s largest art competition open to anyone, kicks off September 20 with a brand new batch of unique masterpieces and fun, art-centric activities. With so many things to see and do, the ArtPrize team needs a large group of dedicated volunteers to assist in setting up and tearing down ArtPrize events, installing and deinstalling artists’ exhibitions, leading docent tours for school programs or providing directions to the public in various venues as a Wayfinder.

West Michigan Race for the Cure, an annual 5k facilitated by Susan G. Komen Michigan, will make its way to Ah-Nab-Awen Park in Grand Rapids on September 16 to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. Advocate for this important cause by volunteering to provide information to participants at the packet pick-up station prior to the race, help set up and tear down the event or congratulate runners with post-race refreshments.

The Traffic Official
Calling all biking buffs! The American Diabetes Association will be holding the annual Tour de Cure on September 29. This premier fundraising event aims to raise funds to advocate for the rights of individuals with diabetes, and wouldn’t be possible without the efforts of upbeat and dedicated volunteers. Help direct cyclists during the event by becoming a Traffic Control volunteer — steer participants in the right direction along the course, warn them of upcoming traffic and cheer them to the finish line.
