The Jazz Enthusiast 

Make the 6th annual GRandJazzFest one to remember by volunteering behind the scenes. The festival, running from August 19-20, will be held at the Rosa Parks Circle. Sign up to set up tables, sell goodies at the merchandise tent, distribute event programs, assist musicians as they prepare for their performances, keep the snack station stocked inside the VIP tent or lend a hand in cleaning the venue after the festival. All volunteers will receive a free GRandJazzFest t-shirt to wear during their shifts and access to refreshments throughout the festival.

The Nature Nurturer

Join Friends of Buck Creek at the 4th annual Buck Creek Clean Up on Saturday, August 5 at Charles Lemery Park at 8 a.m. All volunteers will be divided into teams and assigned a spot along the creek to remove any harmful obstacles and trash from the area.

The Bleeding Heart

Share your skills and talents with women and children who have experienced neglect and abuse by becoming a volunteer mentor through Chicktime Grand Rapids. As a mentor, you’ll have a chance to spend valuable one-on-one time with individuals in need of a smile, listen to their stories and help them develop their passions.

The Transportation Tutor

Samaritas New American Services, an organization dedicated to helping international refugees resettle into Grand Rapids, is looking for volunteer bus trainers to help clients get acclimated to the bus system in the city. Accompany individuals on their medical appointments, grocery store outings, job interviews and more as they learn the bus routes.

The Forest Friend

Join Friends of Grand Rapids Parks on August 8 for the BBQ and Beautify event, intended to celebrate Lincoln Park. Volunteers will have an opportunity to keep the park lush and green by watering and mulching trees around the site. The event will conclude with a free community barbecue in the park.

The Maestro

Take your musical talents to Spectrum Health Hospice and provide comforting sounds at the bedside of patients who are receiving end-of-life care. Soft, soothing instruments such as guitar, flute, harp, piano and cello are preferred.

The Art Fanatic 

The Geek Group is looking for dedicated volunteers to help run the art program. Organize and maintain art materials, schedule workshops by visiting artists in the area, arrange and facilitate art field trips and display student artwork onsite and in the Grand Rapids community.

The Polish Patron 

Make residents at Covenant Village of the Great Lakes feel beautiful by becoming a volunteer manicurist in the Healthcare building. Not a professional? No worries! Trim, file or polish nails and give mini hand massages on a weekly basis while spending valuable time with clients.
