Signature Satisfaction at GR’s Signature Chefs Auction

It’s the feasting part of the season and March of Dimes is making sure that you have a chance to enjoy the best cuisine in the area. The annual Signature Chefs Auction brings 20 of Grand Rapids’ finest chefs from restaurants and catering companies; each set their table with one to three samples of their signature dishes. You are invited to taste them all!

March of Dimes Senior Development Manager, Nicole Walters, expressed how the participating chefs’ sense of philanthropy makes the event happen. It is the reason all funds raised during Signature Chefs Auction can go directly to March of Dimes’ mission to improve the health of babies and their mothers through research and education that decrease premature births, birth defects and infant mortality.

“We could not do it without the chefs,” Walters said. “They love the event and they donate everything.”

The food is one thing to love about these restaurants and catering services, but their charitable platform is noticeably immense when you learn the selected cuisine, table set-up and presence are all volunteered. Walters is beyond proud that this benevolence makes it possible for March of Dimes to spend very little of the raised funds on event preparation, meaning guests can enjoy unlimited samples knowing their money is going towards a wonderful cause.

The Signature Chefs Auction is an opportunity for attendees to revisit restaurant favorites like Amore Trattoria Italiana, The Chop House, Charley’s Crab and Applause Catering, and also get a taste of what new eateries are bringing to the table. New Holland joins the lineup along with Wheelhouse, Sandy Point Beach House and an exclusive bite from Donkey and Winchester Owner Paul Lee’s newest gift to our stomachs, Hancock, which opens on Wealthy Street next spring.

A night of sampling our city’s greatest eats while benefiting a good cause is not one to miss. Once you gather a plate of culinary delights, take a seat at your table for the event’s live auction. Energy surges through post-indulgence bliss as the auctioneer reveals the unprecedented packages donated by each restaurant, open for bidding.

Like the chefs make sure their signature dish samples give you a novel experience, they put the same care into their auction packages. Each package is designed to give its winner a new adventure. New Holland’s package offers a 4-course dinner for 10, complete with beer pairings and a tour of the brewery; YoChef’s Catering’s package gives its winner a night off with a 4-course dinner for 10 served at their home, expert wine pairings, table décor and $500 of professional house cleaning services by Pinnacle Cleaning; Reserve’s package hosts a party of eight with a 6-course dinner, wine pairings, a bottle of wine and $100 gift card for each guest; And just wait until you see what Chef Jenna Arcidiacono of Amore is including in her package.

Proceeds from every auction package, valued at $1,500 minimum, are put toward March of Dimes’ mission.
