Mary Free Bed ReHA!bilitation Gala

by Bri Kilroy

This month, the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital hits 125 years of restoring lives through a breadth of rehab programs that serve an average of 32,000 people annually. The celebration of a big mission called for big entertainment at this year’s gala, so the event’s organizers aimed for an entertainer who would preserve the uplifting effects of a Mary Free Bed event while delivering a show that would keep people laughing throughout evening.

Craig Ferguson, The Late Late Show’s former host and current host of the popular Celebrity Name Game, headlines this year’s gala, giving attendees the chance to experience Ferguson in a new setting. The multi- talented, Scottish-born comedian graces gala attendees with his recognizable, yet unmatchable wit, earning the event’s cleverly altered title of “Mary Free Bed ReHA!bilitation Gala.”

Proceeds from Mary Free Bed’s grand premier fundraising event benefit the expansion of programs that help those who have suffered life-altering injuries. Through fundraising efforts and community support, Mary Free Bed is able to provide therapy across the spectrum from inpatient to outpatient.

“We’re most proud of helping others achieve their greatest level of independence,” Mary Free Bed Annual Fund Director Jocelyn Dettloff said. “People come to us at the lowest points in their life, and we restore hope and freedom.”

The Mary Free Bed ReHA!bilitation Gala celebrates these accomplishments and invites the community to join them. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception followed by a delicious dinner by Amway Catering. The program’s entertainment takes off at 8 p.m. with CEO Kent Riddle taking the stage to share stories of Mary Free Bed’s journey and successes. The inspiring recap builds to the anticipated performance of the evening where Ferguson takes the reins for the rest of the night, delighting the crowd with an unforgettable show.
