It’s “Just A Little Heart Attack”

Inspired by true stories of real women, Go Red For Women and Emmy-nominated actress Elizabeth Banks released “Just a Little Heart Attack.” Directed by and starring Banks, the short film infused with both humor and reality, educates women about the reality of heart disease and encourages them to put their health first. Hollywood screenwriter, Kate Kondell, wrote the script based on the testimonials of women who shared stories of their personal experiences with heart disease at GoRedForWomen.org.

KNOW THE FACTS ABOUT HEART DISEASE

  • ONE in THREE American women suffer from heart disease, but only ONE in FIVE believes she is personally at risk, thinking heart disease doesn’t happen to “someone like me.”
  • Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women age 20 and over, killing approximately one woman every minute.
  • More women die of cardiovascular disease than the next four causes of death combined, including all forms of cancer.
  • While 1 in 30 deaths in American women are due to breast cancer, about 1 in 3 deaths are due to cardiovascular disease.
  • Eighty percent of cardiac events in women may be prevented if women make the right choices for their hearts, involving diet, exercise and abstinence from smoking.
  • Only about 50 percent of women are aware of the signs and symptoms of a heart attack.
  • Only about half of women are likely to call 911 if experiencing symptoms. And yet, 79 percent of women said that they would call 911 if someone else was having a heart attack.
