Who would you like to meet for coffee for an hour?

A smoking hot guy who wants to get married in two weeks! But honestly, I’d love to sit down with a lady like Tai Beauchamp or Melissa Hilbert to get an idea if they have persisted in their careers by any means necessary. I believe the future is female, so my coffee date would definitely be a woman. A strong, powerful, determined woman.

What is the best way to spend the day in GR?

Because Grand Rapids is so wicked awesome these days, the possibilities are endless. Whether you’re a foodie who wants to spend the day dining on sushi rolls at Maru, a group of girls looking for an outstanding Happy Hour offering at Social Kitchen & Bar or a person with a great sense of adventure who wants to try ziplining at John Ball Zoo— there is something for everyone GR.

What would you tell your ten-year-old self?

I would tell her to live out loud no matter who or what presents itself as an obstacle on your journey. I would tell her that she is the creator of her destiny, so don’t give much time or energy to negative people or influences. I would remind her to laugh and play because as time goes on, she may have to force herself to find the joy in some situations. I would echo to her the very same sentiments my mother constantly whispered to me: Don’t wish your time away, enjoy being a kid.

What is your secret talent?

I don’t really keep very many secrets, especially if it’s about something I am good at! Given that, people may not know that I am a wicked awesome General Civil Mediator who firmly believes that most people just want to be heard.

What is always in your fridge?

As a single mom — WINE! I also always make sure my fridge is stocked and ready to go for whatever gathering I may need to host on the fly. You never know when you’ll need to throw together a cool cocktails and conversation kind of an evening, so I make sure I have several kinds of cheeses, fresh fruit, an amazing salsa and sparkling water in the fridge at all times.

What is your guilty pleasure?

New York Super Fudge Chunk Ice Cream by Ben & Jerry’s. It’s so me — a delicious complexity!

What words do you live by?

“I am here to live out loud!”

What is your theme song?

I am a sucker for all things Kanye West, Drake and Jay-Z. I am always instantly transformed by “Loose Yourself” by Eminem.

If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow where would you go?

I hate to say it, but I need a vacation! I have been so swamped as of late, that if I could just tune out and shoot to Australia for a bit, I would pack my bags and GO! It would be nice to sleep in a plush hotel bed without the foot of a 5-year-old in my appendix.

If there were an extra hour in your day, what would you do with it?

I would put in more work. I hustle in heels hard and work many hours late into the night on all of my initiatives. I know this is why I need a break or a trip to an island, but nothing comes to a sleeper but a dream. My motto is, “Let’s do this!”
