Fresh Air and Fresh Beats

There’s an entirely new sound that accompanies great music when you shift from an indoor concert hall to an outdoor venue. The crisp summer air, soft grass and echoing instruments add a new rhythm to even the most recognizable songs, making this version the best you’ve ever heard.

Fortunately, this artsy and diverse city we call home is filling multiple stages with outdoor musical experiences. Read on for an agenda of outdoor concerts, many of them free, happening this June! For a full list of concerts happening through September, visit the websites listed below.

Lunchtime Concerts at Rosa Parks Circle Thursdays through September 15
Energize your lunch hour with live performances by talented musicians and mobile eats from local food trucks.

Lineup (all noon-1:30 p.m):

Jazz in the Park Mondays, June 6-September 25
Set up a chair, lie on a blanket or perch in the grass at Ah-Nab-Awen park to unwind with performances by incredible jazz artists.

Summer Concerts at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park June 8-September 7
Big names in entertainment perform onstage at the Garden’s beautiful outdoor amphitheater for music lovers of all genres and generations.

Lowell Showboat Sizzlin’ Summer Concerts Thursdays, June 16-August 25
Music flows throughout downtown Lowell during these evening concerts held in front of the Lowell Showboat at Riverwalk Plaza.

Lineup (all 7-9 p.m.):

  • June 16 Off the Ledge
  • June 23 Steppin’ in It
  • June 30 Big Band Nouveau

In July, there’s more! Tuesday Night Music Club at the Gardens (starting July 5), GRAM on the Green (July 7) and Picnic Pops (July 14) join the lineup next month.
