Faces in Healthcare – Raisa Platte, M.D., Ph.D – Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogynecology
Dr. Platte joins Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogynecology in January 2013. She completed her fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and her medical residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA (2011, 2009). Prior to her residency and fellowship, Dr. Platte received her doctorate in Medical Science from the Ukranian Academy of Medical Sciences (1996).
Her specialties include minimally invasive surgery for pelvic organ prolapse and urogenital fistula repair; treatment for chronic pelvic pain, interstitial cystitis and urinary incontinence. Clinical research has also been a big part of Dr. Platte’s career. She enjoys research projects that explore the causes, effects and treatments for urinary incontinence, as well as other urogynecologic conditions. Dr. Platte is a primary investigator on a study with the National Institute of Health (NIH) regarding the nature of urinary incontinence.
She is a member of International Urogynecologic Association (IUGA), American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS), International Continence Society (ICS) and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
Dr. Platte also enjoys gardening, cooking and reading.
